Neoregelia johnsoniae is a specie plant from Eastern Peru making this neoregelia unique in itself.
The herbarium specimen description on the web from Harry Luther at the BIC lists green bracts and blue corolla, with cultivation source being Pineapple Place’s Carole Johnson. Manipulating the image on the FCBS to take out some of the blue I see this to be similar. The only thing that I see possibly different is the foliar serration spacing. Next I would have to pull apart an inflorescence and start measuring in mm’s. Naw – not yet.
There is a write up for the bromeliad in the BSI Journal which I don’t currently have access to, 1989 V39(2):70-71.
I need to inquire about the source of this clone to Michael’s, where I got this one.
